About Clarke

A practical approach to teaching music

Clarke Mazza is a pianist, composer, and longtime piano teacher whose lessons connect traditional music fundamentals with the way students actually see, hear, and play at the keyboard.

Teaching philosophy

Students learn best when each new idea has a clear purpose. The lessons begin with familiar visual landmarks, add the written symbol, connect it to a sound, and then put it to use in real music.

The goal is not merely to memorize answers. It is to make the language of music understandable enough that a student can recognize patterns, build chords, follow progressions, and eventually make independent musical choices.

Why this website

This site preserves that teaching sequence in a form students can revisit between lessons. Interactive demonstrations and printable pages work together: the screen lets a student see and hear the idea, while the printed page moves the learning to the piano.
